Sweetness and Curly with their bunnies

Last Christmas we bunny sat.  Our friends were going away and needed someone to care for their bunny, Optimus Prime.  We fell in love with her.  She was a sweet and patient bunny.  Very compliant.  We enjoyed her so much that we asked her owners if we could ‘co-parent’ the bunny because, well, we really liked her.

When she became our pet we renamed her Hoptimus Prime, because, well why not!?  It was Curly’s clever idea.

But she was old.  Very old, for a bunny.  My love and I were concerned that it would be utterly devastating to lose a pet on top of all the other things these children have been through in the past  year.  We thought that adding a young bunny to the family would help ease the hurt when the inevitable happened.

It kinda did… but not enough.

On Sunday night, while friends were over, right before dinner Hoptimus had a stroke and died.

It was all very surreal.

And sad.

And we missed her.  All of us.

So, I the only thing I could think of: I called the person who gave us Luke Skyhopper and asked if we could have her sister too.

Thankfully, the answer was yes.  So yesterday we reunited sisters.

(they are completely litter trained and are fun to have around)

(Also, we had a lot of names listed to chose from including: Nick Furry,  Natasha Rabitnov, Bunny Holly, Bunny Fett, Pepper Hops but we landed with Luke Skyhopper and Hoptimus Prime Jr.)
