Cinco de Mayo

May 6, 2014

So, I’m not Mexican.  And I am pretty ambivalent towards Independence days.  But I have a dear friend who finds Cinco De Mayo terribly exciting.  So every year she invites people to the park for a Mexican potluck.

Here in Canada it was rather frigid.  Like, I wish I had more clothes on.  But it was a blast!  the kids playing at the park, and me hanging out with people I love.

Now, as any good home educating mom would do, we would take this opportunity to learn about Mexico, especially since we have travelled there.  But, I’m not a good home educating mom.

I like to cook.

And I must say, there was so much great food!!!  I, myself, made lentils mexican style, roasted pineapple (so stinking yummy and easy!) and I made three milk cake.  We cooked instead of learning about Mexico.  We played instead of doing book work.

We LIVED, liberated today.  And it was yummy.
